Swans
Location
Australia, Netherlands
Date
2025
A study in stillness, shadow, and memory.
This collection brings together four species across time and geography—
the Black Swan of southern wetlands, red-beaked and regal against dusk;
the Mute Swan, all grace and ghostlight, gliding through European gardens like an unfinished poem;
the Bewick’s Swan, smaller, quieter, etched with yellow at the beak’s edge like an inkstroke;
and the Whooper Swan, whose long calls seem to echo through snow and into myth.
Each image holds a moment:
water without ripple, feathers pressed by wind, a gaze returned just once.
To watch a swan is to understand that silence has weight.
To photograph one is to admit:
you never quite capture what they were.
